Greetings from Bernabi where faculty, staff and students alike are all smiles thanks to an incredible Teacher Appreciation Week!  I am so very proud of the fine work that takes place here each and every day, and I am extremely thankful that you and your children took time this week to share your appreciation as well!   A specific shout out to the Bernabi Parents Association for going above and beyond to make sure Bernabi teachers felt the love this week!

Speaking of the BPA: I am looking forward to seeing our Bernabi boys and moms in action tonight for the annual Game On event!  A reminder that due to organizing the games we have planned, tickets will not be available at the door, and we are asking that no one bring any of their own equipment to tonight's event.  As they do every year, the BPA will have everything you need to have a great time!  See you here tonight at 6:00 pm!

Next week brings another annual event back to our school: Bernabi Reads!  Our theme this year: Bernabi Reads Through the Ages, and in addition to a variety of guest readers throughout the week, we will also be trying out some new common school-wide reading experiences including a One School One Book initiative using the Magic Tree House favorite Dinosaurs Before Dark and daily digital read alouds from some of Bernabi's most recognizable faces!

Save the Date: Our biggest annual event is coming quickly as well!  Bernabi’s Flag Day/Field Day/Family Picnic is set for Friday, June 15, and while we will continue to have many of the same fun and incredible activities we have had in the past, we have made at least one significant change that I want to be sure you are aware of.  The school-wide Flag Day assembly/concert that has been taking place at the end of this special day for the last few years, has been moved up to be our kick-off event.  As you will remember, you and your family members are invited and welcome to spend all or any part of this day with your children here at Bernabi, and if you want to see our assembly and hear our musical salute to the flag, plan on being here at Bernabi at the start of the school day, out on the back lawn, for a 9:30 am start!  Also new this year, and due to the morning dew, we are asking that students bring beach towels with them to sit on during this assembly, and if you or any family members require the use of a physical chair, please feel free to bring whatever works best for you and set up your seating on the perimeter of our back lawn as students will be seated flat on the ground in the middle of the lawn.  Stay tuned for more details as they will be coming home with your child in the coming weeks and many thanks to our Bernabi Parents Association, our school based committee, and to our music and physical education staff for their respective contributions to making this annual event a success for the entire Bernabi community!

A safety reminder: student safety during morning arrival continues to be a priority for the building.  Many of you may have noticed that I have requested help from district security to ensure that students and parents are both safe and following our school's designated drop off locations and procedures.  Please remember that if you are dropping your children off, you are welcome to use the drop off loop between Canal View and Bernabi.  If you or a family member are walking your children into the building, the only location for this is the front entrance.  The west side entrance is designated for K-2 students who arrive by bus only as the parking/traffic situation is a daily safety concern during arrival times.  Thank you all once again for your support in keeping everyone safe.  My safety team and I have been and will continue to be outside in the morning offering reminders.

That's all for now, but I would like to end by sharing this special video a few friends and I put together to close out this very special week--click the link and enjoy!  https://ensemble.monroe2boces.org/Watch/y7QJk24Z
