Update from Bernabi

Wow…mid-March.  Warmer weather.  Dare I say it?  At the risk of jinxing it, I’ll keep my commentary focused on Bernabi!

Did you know that March is all about mindfulness at Bernabi?  From our faculty and staff, and most importantly with our students, our current school-wide PBIS focus is all about being mindful.  Check out Mr. Shufelt’s weekly message to our students that helped us get started by clicking here!  We will continue to teach about mindfulness at this week’s PBIS assembly while also taking time to celebrate our classroom nominees for last month’s targeted trait; kindness!

One week from today is a big Friday!  Well, I suppose it’s really a small one because Friday, March 22 is our third half-day of the year for all elementary students K-5.  If you have children at the middle school and/or high school, please remember that there is no school for grades 6-12 next Friday, but we do have a half-day session at the elementary schools.  Our instructional day, which will include grade level rotations focused on incorporating purposeful play activities, will start at our regular time and while breakfast will be available as normal, there are no specials classes and no lunches on this day.  Dismissal will begin at 11:50 am and buses will be on their way home by noon.  As always, if you plan on picking your child up due to the shortened schedule, please let us know in advance.

Next Friday also happens to be report card day for K-5, so be on the lookout for your child’s report card in his/her backpack!  As always, report cards should never carry any surprises, so thank you one and all for the ongoing two-way communication!  It only works when everyone is engaged!

Last but not least, New York State assessment season is on its way, and for those with children in grades 3 through 5, by now you should have received a letter from me outlining this year’s testing information and dates.  As always, if you have any questions or concerns, I would be more than happy to take your calls and/or e-mails.

Thank you for reading and for all of your support!

Sincerely,

David Caiazza
Principal
