Greetings from Bernabi where today’s “cold day” has given me the opportunity to catch up on some paperwork!  While I miss the students and faculty very much and I am glad you are all home safe and warm, I admit, I needed this time to myself!  I also used this time to jot down a few quick notes for you, so thanks in advance for reading!

This week’s use of the Raptor Visitor Management System has been wonderful and very smooth!  Having your IDs out and ready has been greatly appreciated.  If you happened to be around the building during the drop off period this week (8:45 – 8:55) you may have seen our greeter, Mrs. Gary in action with this machine while she simultaneously supervised the doors to allow students into the building.  I am hoping that you also noticed our district security staff present this week, who offered to support our ability to implement this new system while maintaining eyes on our doors.  That said, I need to ask for your help here: with crowds of students entering the doors and multiple families waiting in our entry area, Sue’s visibility is significantly diminished.  Therefore, our district security has asked that all families dropping off their children at our front entrance a few minutes early give your hugs and kisses at the door and allow the kiddos to be seated on the benches until 8:45.  Another option is to utilize our parent drop off loop on the east side of the building (and thank you so much to those families who are already using this option).  Thank you once again for all of your support!

In reflecting on Raptor and all things safety, I want to thank you for taking time over the last month to respond to our mid-year BPT parent survey.  Many of the things we do as a building are in response to your suggestions and concerns, and after reading through last month’s survey comments, I will be looking to address our ability to personalize parent communication, specifically but not limited to our Open House/Curriculum Night.  Stay tuned for more information on how your comments help to make Bernabi the best it can be for students and families!  #OneBernabi

I hope to see our Bernabi girls next Friday—don’t forget: “A Magical Winter Wonderland Sweetheart Dance” Friday, February 8 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.  We will have a DJ, light refreshments and a photo opportunity!  The cost is $15.00 per family (cash or check) and don’t forget to bring a little extra cash for flowers, balloons and raffle tickets available for purchase that night.  Informational fliers came home last week, so be on the lookout and RSVP your place ASAP!  Michela and I will be there with our dancing shoes on!

That’s all for now Bernabi!  Stay warm and enjoy this day together!
