Greetings from Bernabi where we are only one week from December break!  A few “big idea” notes as we close out the year and look to the future!

A reminder to use your individual IC backpack access code you received last week to log into your children’s account and digitally acknowledge last week’s report card.  We will be looking to see how many people were able to access IC so that we know what our next steps might be as we make this transition.

As our district continues to build awareness and capacity around Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), we will be administering a survey to K-5 students that will identify and measure their social and emotional challenges and strengths.  The online SEL survey that we will use has been developed by PASS (Pupil Attitudes toward Self and School) and is administered on a testing platform called Testwise.  The survey for K-1st grade students consists of 27 statements with a yes or no response and will be administered between January 13, 2020 and January 24, 2020.  The survey for 2nd -5th grade students consists of 50 statements with four possible responses and will be administered before break. The survey takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete once students are logged in with their unique access code.  The results of the PASS survey will provide evidence of students’ attitudes and beliefs about self, others, and school, and will assist the overall goal of promoting students’  self-awareness, self-management, social-awareness, relationship, and responsible decision-making skills.

Last but not least, don't forget to stop in and visit our Giving Tree in support of the Update Medical Rehab Center!  You can either take an ornament from the tree to purchase and drop off at Bernabi by next Friday, or click here for access to the wish-list that will allow you to purchase and ship direct from Amazon!

That's all for now--hope to see everyone soon!

Sincerely,

David Caiazza
