Greetings from Bernabi where May has flown by!  I have a few updates for you and your family below, thanks for taking a look!

With ELA and math both in the rear view mirror, our fourth grade students completed the NYS Science Performance Assessment this week.  It is always cool to watch students use tools to demonstrate scientific thinking and showcase the skills they’ve learned over the course of the last few years!  All that remains for our fourth graders is the written portion of the NYS Science assessment, which will take place on the morning of Monday, June 4.

Speaking of Monday, June 4, please note that this will be our final half day of the school year.  Those in grades K, 1 and 2 will still have their normal specials classes take place in the morning, and while there will be no school lunch, breakfast will still be available as normal.  Our instructional day will start on time at 8:55 am and will end at 11:50 am, with buses departing for home by noon.  As always, please remember to send in a note if you plan to pick your child up from school on this day.  Half days are always more hectic for families and for schools, so the earlier we know your plans, the better able we are to support!

Another important note for your calendars: Wednesday, June 20 will be the last day of school for all K-5 students.

Today is a very special day for a number of student athletes here at Bernabi as we head to the Special Olympics!  The athletic competitions will be fun, but friendships and community help to make this event even more incredible for everyone here at Bernabi.   In addition to our student leaders making this trip with our athletes, the entire school will be waiting for their classmates’ and friends’ return between 1:30 and 2:00 to show our support!  If you happen to be around and want to show your support, meet us out in front of Bernabi this afternoon!

Last but not least: information including a lunch order form for our Flag Day/Field Day/Family Picnic scheduled for Friday, June 15 will be coming home on Tuesday.  You will want to keep this sheet as it outlines your child’s specific schedule for the day, and again, offers you and your family the opportunity to order a picnic lunch.  Be sure to fill out the bottom portion and send it back to school--just keep the rest on your fridge!

That’s all for now--wishing you all the best for the long weekend ahead!  Just a reminder, as if you need one, there is no school on Monday!

Sincerely,

David Caiazza
